ReFirement Parties are based on five principles:
1. Formal presentations should focus on the fact that the employee is not just departing from, but entering into, a remarkable stage in his or her life, full of options and opportunities.
2. To celebrate the talents the ReFiree brought to the workplace, co-workers are asked to relate stories of his or her particular skills or qualities.

4. We encourage the party planners to invite both older and younger co-workers and guests to the party for an intergenerational perspective.
5. At the end of the party, guests should be encouraged to extend their personal wishes to the retiree.
